Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation

Yesterday was my last day working at the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation.
I've been there since we moved in May to Atlanta and it definitely was a tremendous oppotunity to use my (almost aquired) public health degree. I basically managed a mobile vision clinic, where we provided dilated eye exams and eyeglasses to the uninsured and low-income at 10 different sites across Georgia. Since I started there, I really helped make the program grow (from 2 sites to 10) and we saw over 175 people per month for our services (last May, they were only seeing maybe 35-40 people a month).

I left because I traveled so much and did a lot of heavy lifting with all the ophthalmic equipment I had to set up and break down. I knew it would be way too much when I was really pregnant and impossible once I had the baby...so I respectfully resigned.

It is definitely bittersweet though. I've made a lot of great connections and loved helping our clients, but I am also so excited about my new job (and new life!).

On April 14, I start as a nurse at Emory on the Clinical Research Floor. Woo hoo!
